Exhibition of Cham Cultural Heritage in Binh Thuan

As part of the series of activities of the Kate Festival in 2024, at the campus of Po Sah Inu tower cluster (Phu Hai ward, Phan Thiet city), the Provincial Museum organizes an exhibition space for the Cham Binh Cultural Heritage Exhibition. Thuan - Golden Linga National treasure.

The exhibition space is arranged according to topics such as: the excavation process of some Cham temples and towers; Excavation images at Po Dam tower discovering golden Linga; Introducing the National Treasure Golden Linga; Typical Binh Thuan Cham artifacts. Displaying 30 typical artifacts discovered during archaeological excavations accidentally discovered by gardeners; Introducing traditional cakes made during holidays of the Cham people...

Binh Thuan currently has 4 cultural heritages included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List, including 2 cultural heritages of the Cham people: the Kate Festival of the Cham people following Brahmanism and the Cham people's craft. Pottery making in Binh Duc village (Phan Hiep commune, Bac Binh district). Preserving and promoting Cham cultural heritage values ​​has always been of concern to the province, contributing to enriching and diversifying the culture of the province in particular and Vietnam in general, and promoting tourism development activities. In particular, in the recognition of national treasures - phase 12, in 2023, Binh Thuan has 1 treasure related to Cham cultural heritage, a golden Linga discovered during archaeological excavations at Po Dam tower (commune). Phu Lac, Tuy Phong district) in 2013.

Through examination, scientists confirmed that this is a pure gold Linga dating to around the 8th century, the same year as the Po Dam tower group was built. Compared to the gold Lingas discovered in Champa relics or Oc Eo culture, the gold Lingas at Po Dam are many times larger in size, volume and gold content. However, the main value of the Golden Linga at Po Dam Tower does not lie in the 78.3630g of pure gold but in the Linga's structure, origin, age, rarity and craftsmanship.

Currently, Binh Thuan province has issued a plan to manage, protect and promote the value of this national treasure. At the same time, a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision to recognize national treasures (phase 12) was held in conjunction with the opening ceremony of the 2024 Kate Festival taking place at the Po Sah Inu tower relic on the morning of the day. tomorrow (October 2). It is known that the Binh Thuan Cham Cultural Heritage Exhibition serves the sightseeing and learning needs of local people and tourists from October 1 - 6 at the Po Sah Inu tower campus - Phan Thiet.
