Van An Thanh is a place to worship the god Nam Hai (Whale or Ong fish) according to fishermen's customs, located close to the seaport in Trieu Duong village, Tam Thanh commune, Phu Quy district; 2.5km southeast of the district center, 56 nautical miles (105km) from Phan Thiet city. Van An Thanh was ranked by the State as a national historical-cultural relic in 1996.

With a location close to the beach about 100m from Phu Quy port, after traveling from the mainland by waterway and setting foot on the island, visitors can easily walk to the monument. Currently, with the development of waterway transportation, many medium and high-speed boats are invested in connecting Phan Thiet with Phu Quy, so we can go to the island and find the relics at any time of the year.

According to ancient Han Nom sources preserved at the site, An Thanh temple was built in the year Tan Suu (1781), which is the earliest dated temple on Phu Quy island. In addition to the main function of worshiping the god Nam Hai, the temple is also a place to worship and perform rituals associated with the belief of worshiping the ancestors and descendants of the village. Currently, on the temple worshiping the god Nam Hai in the main hall, there is still an ancient horizontal panel carved with the words in Han Nom: "Nam worships the Hai spirit of the Ngoc Lan tribe, the water general worships Than, Tan Suu year, ten to fifteen days of the Snake period" .

When it was first established, the throne was just a wooden frame with thatched roofs and simple leaf walls; After many renovations, the throne has become majestic and dignified, with all the architectural items of a folk belief institution. The overall architecture includes the following items: Main Gate, Flagpole, Screen, Vo Ca, Main Hall and Tien Hien House arranged in a straight axis from outside to inside. On the left side in the direction of the relic is the burial place of the Ong fish, on the right is the Ong fish skeleton exhibition house. In 2011, the State invested funds to restore the 18m-long skeleton of the Sperm whale and a number of marine species to serve the cultural and spiritual needs of local fishermen and to visit and learn. of tourists from near and far. This is the oldest and largest whale skeleton on Phu Quy island today.

Of all the architectural items at Van An Thanh, the Main Hall is considered the center, the place of worship and main ceremonies during festivals of the year. The front half of the main hall is the place to worship the Nam Hai god and the second half is the place to worship the remains of Ong fish.

At Van An Thanh, many valuable artifacts are kept such as: Hoanh phi, couplets, bao lam, altar, 10 ordinations given by the Nguyen Dynasty kings to the gods worshiped here. In particular, Van An Thanh is considered a museum of marine culture in Binh Thuan province with a history of nearly 250 years with many collections including nearly 70 whale skeletons and other marine species such as turtles. leather and sea cow (sea cow) dating back more than 100 years; including the whale skeleton of the Tang Dynasty in 1841, which local people call "Vi Co".
